Seit 1996 ist viel Zeit vergangen, doch im Gegensatz zum Spiel ist Trent Reznors Soundtrack zu id Softwares FPS-Opa in Schönheit gealtert. Nach wie vor unnachahmlich, wie NIN-Mastermind Reznor hier seinen Pop-Industrial zugunsten eines düsteren Ambient-Drones mit dennoch sich langsam entwickelnden Melodie-Fragmenten eindampft.

Der ganze Soundtrack ist natürlich auf YouTube nachzuhören, doch "Hall of Souls" bleibt alleine wegen seiner körperlosen Flüsterer ein zeitloses Stück Horror-Ambient. Der Grund, warum bei mir die Quake-CD immer im CD-Regal stehen wird - gleich neben Aphex Twins "Selected Ambient Works II".
